At Jorgensen Gibbons, our passion to help people who are injured and disabled is infectious. Through the years, our children have grown up around our practice, interacting with our clients and staff and have grown to love and respect what we do for others. Sharon and Lynn have been both surprised and delighted that their children have decided to follow their path to careers as attorneys so that they can use their talent and intellect for the benefit of the firm and our clients. They have invested their efforts, love and passion into their children over the years and that will pay off in spades as their children are the future of the practice they have grown.
Sharon Perkner Jorgensen is the President and founding partner of the firm. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1980 and her Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1985. Ms. Jorgensen has been licensed to practice law in the State of Florida since 1985. Since that time, she has limited her practice to representing injured persons in personal injury and workers compensation cases.
Ms. Jorgensen is a member of the Florida and Colorado State Bars, the American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the St. Petersburg Bar Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. In addition to Florida and Colorado, she is admitted to practice before the Federal Middle District Court of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals of the United States of America. Ms. Jorgensen is married and has three adult children. When she is not working, she enjoys boating, traveling, snow skiing and is an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.
Grady Jorgensen is Sharon's oldest son. He graduated from FSU and then went on to received his J.D. from FAMU Law in Orlando. He has been a practicing associate with the firm since 2015. Grady loves the fact that he has the benefit of both his Mom and her long time partner, Lynn Gibbons' tutelage and guidance with new issues that come up as he practices in personal injury, workers compensation and Social Security Disability cases. Because his practice is so varied, he deals with complex issues on a daily basis and is frequently practicing his skills in court and in depositions. This experience has made him grow in his proficiency very quickly.
Spencer Jorgensen is Sharon's middle son. He graduated from UF and worked as a paralegal handling Social Security Disability claims for the firm before he began law school at his Mom's alma mater, Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport in the Fall of 2015. In December 2017, he graduated with his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. He now works as an associate handling Social Security Disability, workers compensation and personal injury claims for the firm.
Emmitt Jorgensen is Sharon's youngest son. He graduated from FSU in the Spring of 2016 and has done work as an intern with the firm on personal injury cases over the years. He graduated from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, IL in December of 2018 and is barred in the state of Florida. He is currently living in Paris and working remotely for a large Florida law firm.
Sharon's husband of 34 years, has been the firm's bookkeeper and jack-of-all trades.
Nice to Meet You, We're
The Gibbons Family
E. Lynn Gibbons
E. Lynn Gibbons decided to be an attorney after prevailing as the prosecuting attorney in the "Goldilocks," trial in Mr. Tom Haight's Business Law class at Seminole High School in 1989. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of South Florida in just three years in May of 1992. She attended law school at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, FL and received her Juris Doctor degree in December of 1994 - becoming the first member of her family - male or female - to become an attorney in a family line that dates back to the Mayflower. She was admitted to practice law in the State of Florida in May of 1995 and proudly carried her one year old daughter, Katie, with her to the swearing in ceremony. She is also admitted to practice in the Federal Court before the Middle District of Florida.
She has limited her practice of law to the representation of injured workers, social security disability claimants and those injured in accidents resulting from the negligence of others. She has NEVER represented an insurance company. She is a member of the Florida Bar, The Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, the St. Petersburg Bar Association Workers Compensation Section, and the Workers Compensation Section of the Florida Bar. She has been Board Certified as a workers compensation specialist since 2002. Less than 1% of lawyers in the State of Florida hold this Board Certification as the criteria for certification is very stringent and the test is extremely difficult. Her board certification was renewed in 2008 and again in 2012. She has been certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a Circuit Civil Mediator since 2002. Ms. Gibbons has not lost a workers compensation trial since 2008. Her very first jury trial in a personal injury case resulted in a 2.4 million dollar verdict for her client. She has settled multiple cases for over $1,000,000.00 - most recently a trucking accident that settled for $4,000,000.00.
She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and relocated with her family to live the Florida dream while in high school in 1984. She has been married to her husband, Shannon, for 29 years and has four adult children - Katie, Reilly and twins Delanie and Dillan. Her hobbies include fishing, boating, snorkeling, cooking and watching her youngest son, Dillan, play college football as the starting left guard for Florida State University. Her daughter, Katie, has followed in her footsteps - earning her B.A. from U.S.F. in just 2 years followed by her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. She has worked for the firm since she was 12 years old and has gone from doing filing and stuffing envelopes, to being a full charge workers compensation paralegal for a year before law school, to being a zealous attorney and advocate for her clients. Katie has taken 7 workers' compensation case to final hearing since she started working as an attorney for the firm and has not lost a single case. Lynn's oldest son, Reilly, played football for Stanford and then South Florida. He graduated from U.S.F. in three years after retiring from football and attended law school at the University of Notre Dame. He earned his Juris Doctor from Notre Dame in 2020 and began practicing in civil litigation for Trenam Law. In 2022, he decided to join the family business and came to work for Sharon and Lynn at Jorgensen Gibbons, P.A. He enjoys helping the firm's personal injury and workers compensation clients get the benefits and settlements they deserve. Lynn's youngest daughter, Delanie, earned her A.A. from St. Petersburg College at the same time as she earned her high school diploma as she went to early college. She graduated from U.S.F. with her B.A. in 2019 and went to work for the firm as a settlement specialist in the personal injury department. She is now in her third year at Stetson University College of Law and will graduate with her J.D. with a certificate in Elder Law in May of 2023. She intends to bring a new area of practice to the firm - trusts and estates - when she joins Jorgensen Gibbons after graduation. Lynn's youngest son, Dillan, earned his B.S. in Management and Consulting from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame while playing football for the Fighting Irish. He transferred to Florida State University in 2021 to earn his MBA and play his last two years of college football. He is now the starting left guard for the Seminoles. In 2021, he started his own non-profit, Big Man Big Heart, Inc. to use his name image and likeness for good and encourage other college football players to do the same. He has helped raise over $300,000.00 to date for young people with special needs or suffering with cancer, needy youth and families, and even adults with ties to the football family who are struggling through debilitating injuries. The entire Gibbons family has helped him in this endeavor.
Katelynn Gibbons is Lynn's oldest child. She graduated from her parent's alma mater, USF, in just two years. She then worked as a paralegal for the firm for a year handling workers' compensation cases until she began law school at her Mom's alma mater, Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, in the Fall of 2015. In December of 2017, she earned her JD from Stetson and became an Associate Attorney for the firm. Katelynn has been a zealous advocate for the firm's clients in workers' compensation, Social Security Disability and personal injury cases.
Reilly Gibbons is Lynn's second child and oldest son. He attended Stanford and USF and played football for the Cardinal and South Florida Bulls. After he retired from football due to multiple knee surgeries in January of 2016, he focused his efforts on getting in to law school. He graduated in just 3 years from U.S.F. with a B.S. in political science and a B.A. in Philosophy in 2017. He earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame School of Law in 2020, and worked remotely for the firm while in law school. Reilly brought his talents and competitive drive back to the Tampa Bay area to practice law and began working in Civil Litigation for Trenam Law in 2020. In January of 2022, he decided to put his talents to work for his family business and joined Jorgensen Gibbons as an Associate Attorney. He works with clients in personal injury and workers compensation matters.
Delanie Gibbons is one of Lynn's twins. After graduating with her A.A. degree from the early college program at St. Petersburg College at the age of 17, Delanie earned her B.A. in political science from the University of South Florida in December of 2019. She worked for the firm as a settlement specialist after graduation and before starting law school in the fall of 2020. She is now in her third year of law school at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport. She is working on a certification in Elder Law and would like to bring a new practice area to the firm when she joins Jorgensen Gibbons as a full time associate after her graduation in May of 2023.
Dillan Gibbons is the youngest of Lynn's twins - by two minutes! He graduated with his B.S. in Management and Consulting and a minor in Studio Arts from the University of Notre Dame in the Fall of 2020. He was also a member of the Fighting Irish Football team and became a member of the Monogram Club. He transferred to Florida State University in 2021 and is in the process of earning his MBA degree while playing football for the Noles as the starting left guard. Dillan also started a non-profit, Big Man Big Heart, and through that has raised over $300,000.00 for needy and deserving children and adults in their time of need.
Lynn's husband of 29 years, Shannon, has assisted the firm in many areas, such as marketing, investigations, transportation of clients and community outreach projects.
